Looking Back at 2019 and Getting Excited for 2020

For most people, a new year comes with both change and reflection. At PHYTO, we love looking at what the past year brought, not just for us, but on a bigger level. It’s a PHYTO tradition to reflect on the meaningful moments of the year we are leaving behind and truly get excited about what is to come!

Here are some of our favorite moments of 2019:

PHYTO Had a Facelift. In March, we did a little work on some of our packaging to offer more eco-friendly designs that not only help with our footprint, but also help you squeeze every last drop of product out of the bottle. We don’t want you to have to waste a single drop! Some of your favorites might have been repackaged but don’t worry. They are the same botanically driven formulas you love.

Big Hair Moods at The Met. We always love to see some fanfare…or fanhair? This year’s Met Gala in May did not disappoint. In addition to the stunning fashion statements we look forward to every year, the hair took a starring role this year and we are not mad about it. Lily Collins rocked an ethereal flowery goddess hairstyle complete with perfectly placed petals. Ciara exemplified what a fierce fro should look like. Lucy Boynton showed us how cool and fabulous gray locks can be. And Lupita Nyong’O was walking art with golden picks laced throughout her gorgeous and bold style.

A Bitter Sweet Anniversary. In June, PHYTO celebrated the big 5-0 and all of the accomplishments that we have seen. Our botanicals have stood the test of time and we are all about constantly innovating to make sure it stays that way. However, we also said goodbye to our superhero of a founder, Patrick Ales. Our own personal hair icon left us at the age of 88 after building PHYTO with his bare hands. He will be missed but we will continue to fulfill his legacy and make him proud.

An Unexpected Hero. In September, we found a She-roe we can all stand behind proudly. Greta Thunberg, at the tender age of 16, made a huge impact with her speech at the Climate Action Summit. Don’t let her age fool you. This activist is exactly the kind of person who will change our world and we want a front row seat. She proved that passion can be a driving force for action at any age.

Planting Roots. We obviously love plants at PHYTO. Our work is quite literally based on them. So, this past October we planted trees as a meaningful team activity. It’s just one of the ways PHYTO is making conscious efforts to give back to the planet whenever we can. We gain so much good from nature and plants and always want to lead by example in ways to protect the integrity of our planet.

This small snippet of 2019 is just a sampling of the wonderful things we experienced this year. We are ready for 2020 and can’t wait to see what’s in store. All of us at PHYTO hope you spend some time reflecting on your year and look forward to taking on the new one with all of you!

Happy New Year and here we come, 2020!
