EARTH DAY: A GREENER SALON

It’s no secret that PHYTO Paris is a firm believer in preserving our precious and limited resources for future generations. We strive to set a paradigm for environmental responsibility, not just in providing natural and botanical formulas for the hair and the scalp, but by also committing to protect our planet and its resources.

As a luxurious and plant-based brand, we pride ourselves in exclusively using plant extracts with renewable resources. Most plants are actually grown in the lush countryside of France, without fertilizers or pesticides, using water from wells and rain for irrigation. Our packaging is even made from recyclable materials!

To exemplify our environmental conscientiousness, here are a few tips you can try this Earth Day in your salon (and all year long) that you won’t even notice you’re doing differently, but can make a big difference to the Earth:

NO PAPER RULE

No mail reminders, no mailing advertisements, and no paper! The best thing you can do is call, text, or email clients about upcoming appointments.

SERVE DRINKS IN GLASSES

Leave those paper or plastic cups behind and swap them for the real deal: glass. Sure, you’re going to have to wash them, but just think about how many cups you throw away each day. Glass is made from natural nontoxic raw materials, making it one of the most pure containers available. It’s also 100% recyclable.

LIGHTING

It is a given that fluorescent bulbs are more energy efficient; however, the light given off is not always the most flattering! Why not just change the exterior bulbs to fluorescent bulbs? Taking small steps still helps the environment!

UNPLUG APPLIANCES WHEN NOT IN USE

Hairdryers use a lot of electricity. Even when unused, plugged in electric appliances use a small amount of electricity. Either unplug appliances when you’re not using, or plug them into a power strip and turn it off when you are done.

WATER

It’s important to wash your client’s hair thoroughly, but let’s save some water! Remember to lather, or emulsify, the hair before rinsing. Just sprinkle some water over the hair and work your stylist hands in the hair. This will make you use less water when rising, trust us!
